What type of trash should I put in my Curbie Cart?

Curbie only picks-up household trash that is in your Curbie cart. We do not pick-up construction materials, appliances, large cardboard boxes, etc. Also, please note, that we don’t pick-up any type of hot ashes or embers. They will burn your cart if you put them in it, and you will be charged for the cart.

What about yard trash?

Chatham County does a once a week pick-up of yard trash and large cardboard boxes. (such as moving boxes) Neither Curbie Sanitation nor our affiliate Heritage Recycling picks-up these items. The date that this pick-up is varies upon your location, so you can either call the Chatham County General Information at 912-652-6840 or Curbie Sanitation for what your day is.

Who picks-up old appliances/furniture/etc.?

Chatham County has a bulky item collection once a month. Neither Curbie Sanitation nor our affiliate Heritage Recycling picks-up these items. The date that this pick-up is varies upon your location, so you can either call the Chatham County General Information at 912-652-6840 or Curbie Sanitation for what your day is.

What time should I put my cart out?

We prefer that you put your cart out the night before your pick-up. The houses at the beginning of our routes are picked-up fairly early, so this insures that your trash will be picked up.

What if I forget to put out my cart?

Give us a call, and if we are still in the neighborhood we will gladly stop by and get it. If it is later and we have to make a special trip to pick-up your trash, there may be a small fee.

What if I have extra trash that won’t fit in my Curbie cart?

If you have extra trash, call our office a day ahead of your regular pick-up to let us know about it. Depending on how much trash you have, there may be a small additional fee.

My neighborhood doesn’t allow carts on the street, do you do backyard pick-up?

Yes, we do! Just call our office and we will be happy to assist you.

What if my cart breaks or is missing?

There will be some wear and tear on your cart from normal usage, and if this does cause any breakage, just let us know and we will replace your cart as soon as possible. If for some reason you damage your cart, (such as you place hot ashes in it and it burns) you will be charged for a replacement. If your cart ever goes missing let us know. If it cannot be located we will replace it.

Do you pick-up on holidays?

We pick-up on all holidays except for Thanksgiving, Christmas day, and New Year’s Day. On these holidays your trash pick-up will be taken care of on the day after your normal pick-up day. The days that are in the same week as the holiday will also be off by one day if they occur after the holiday itself. Your normal schedule will resume the next week.

What can I put in my recycling can?

You can recycle paper, cardboard, plastics number 1 and 2, and aluminum/steel food containers. (no spray cans though, please)  All containers, bottles, cans, and cardboard etc. should be clean before you place them in your recycling cart.

Do I need to sort my recycling?

No. We offer single stream recycling for your ease. Just put all of your recyclables in your recycling cart, and you are done.
